NearMeWigs

Disclosure

We run the shop we point you to

This is the part most guide sites bury. We'd rather you read it before the advice than after.

The relationship

NearMeWigs is published by the same people who run SoftWig. When a page here recommends a specific wig, that wig is sold by SoftWig, and if you buy it we make money. There's no third-party affiliate arrangement and no other retailer in the mix — it's simply our own shop.

What that changes, and what it doesn't

It means you should read our product recommendations the way you'd read any shop's: with the knowledge that we benefit. We're not going to pretend otherwise.

What we've tried to make it not change is the advice itself. Concretely:

Links that leave this site

Product links here pass through a redirect on our own domain before landing on SoftWig. That's how we see which pages are actually useful to people. We don't sell that data, and there's no ad network or affiliate network involved — we're not paid per click, because the shop at the other end is ours.

What we measure, and who else sees it

Being straight about this, because the paragraph above used to imply the redirect was the whole story and it isn't: every page on this site loads a third-party analytics script from 51.LA, and it's on by default. It records ordinary web analytics — page views, roughly where visits come from, general device and browser information — plus a few events we added ourselves: when someone starts the Wig Finder, which answer they picked at each step, and whether they reached a result. That data is processed by 51.LA on their own servers under their terms, not only by us.

We use it to work out which pages help and which ones don't, and where people give up on the Finder. We don't use it to build advertising profiles and we don't sell it. Nothing on this site asks you for your name, address or email — there is no account to create, no newsletter, and no form anywhere on the site. If you'd rather not be counted, any of the usual tracker-blocking extensions will stop the script loading, and every page works exactly the same without it.

Our other sites

We also publish BestWigStyles, which covers what to do when a wig you already own goes wrong. Where a page here links there, it's the same publisher — same disclosure applies.

Reviews and ratings

We don't publish star ratings or customer reviews on this site, and we don't attach review markup to the products we mention. Recommendations here are editorial judgements based on specs and fit, and we'd rather present them as exactly that.

Questions about any of this are fair. Who writes this covers the people, and how we recommend covers the method.
